Spirit of the Explorer

My dad once told me that he wanted to capture the spirit of an explorer when he was thinking of names for me. Like most kids, I didn’t put much thought into the story. I've been able to travel the world throughout my adult life but the idea of an explorer never resonated with me. I felt like I let my dad down.

In 2020 it suddenly became unsafe for me to go to step out of my house for a walk, let alone fly across the world. Doing mundane chores felt like a big event and the idea of fishing the wilderness shook me to my core. Suddenly I found my explorer’s spirit.
